Power Armor Paint and Livery Schemes
- Fallout 4 Power Armor Code
- Fallout 4 Power Armor Color Glitch
- Fallout 4 Power Armor Headlamp Colors
- Fallout 4 Power Armor Color Schemes
While we briefly touch upon the standard Power Armor Livery in the Power Armor Facts Page in the Reference Section of the guide, this page offers a much more in-depth review of those options with a focus upon actual livery (that is to say branded) schemes rather than the standard Livery (that is to say seasonal camouflage).
Hot Rodder is a magazine in Fallout 4. Each issue collected unlocks a new custom paint job for power armor. All paint jobs earned through the Hot Rodder magazines are free to apply, and no crafting ingredients are required. Can you change the HUD color in Power Armor? I like how it's a whole other color, but I find the amber to be a bit hard to read when your staring in the wasteland or at the sky. In fallout 4 if you wait and listen to some raiders talk in the city they mention some guy that moves around and pretends he's riding a motorcycle or that. Jul 10, 2016.
They say not all Power Armor is made equally - and that is true especially in terms of livery - because only certain Power Armor can be painted in certain livery. To simply this we have listed in tables below the Power Armor types and the Livery that they can sport.
That means you can use this as a quick reference point to see if the set you have is eligible for the livery you want, and if not, what you need to get to have that. Please note that the Power Armor Facts page in the Reference Section also includes a detailed guide for obtaining Power Armor including where you have to go and what you can expect to find, so if you are looking for a specific look, that should be your first stop.
Part I. Two Standard Livery Schemes
The Wastelands in Fallout IV feature two distinct Livery Schemes - a colorful painted branding scheme that is used by everyone from the Government to Corporate culture - and a duller but far more useful augmentation livery scheme (examples of which include shielding of different types).
For our purposes here we will be dividing the two schemes between the branded liveries (which actually DO have a bonus effect when you have the full set of them) and the non-branded. The following catalogs represent the livery options for each suit of Power Armor:

Part II. Power Armor Revisions List
Each line of Power Armor began with a Beta Version and then over time progressed to increasingly improved models, which are designated by either an Alpha, a Numeric, or an Alpha-Numeric code to indicate the revision. The following listing provides some historical background and spells out the revision codes for each Power Armor type.
Gen-1 T-45 Military & Police
This Generation Power Armor includes Revisions A / B / C / D / E / F
The T-45 line of Military & Police Power Armor was the first successful version to be developed and deployed in combat and under tactical conditions. T-45 models were originally powered by small energy cells, but that power format turned out to require very frequent changes, rendering it practically useless under full combat conditions, where having your armor suit simply stop functioning was a fast way to get dead.
The initial in-field test runs for the T-45a suits lead to the development of the now familiar micro-fusion packs - more commonly known as 'Fusion Cores'. As the servos and underlying armor hardware became more power efficient operators found that under normal conditions (ie when not required to travel long distances or jump from great heights) a single fresh Power Core could last through an entire battle without needing to be changed.
The successes with the T-45 line of Power Armor cleared the way for more advanced suit designs, but it was the T-45 in all of its variants that served as the development platform for the Tech Coating Program and its Explosive Shielding, Lead Plating, Photovoltaic Coating, Prism Shielding, Titanium Plating, and Winterized Coating technology.
Due to its much simpler engineering and the ease at which it can be field repaired, the T-45 line and all of its variations were chosen by all branches of the US Military, as well as the Minuteman Organization and Vault-Tec Security Services as their default Power Armor.
While the T-45 Power Armor ranges are widely considered barely adequate in modern terms, there is one set of armor from this generation that is widely considered to be the pinnacle of perfection for its sub-type, and that is the T-45-MP-47 variant - otherwise known as Combat Medic Power Armor.
Identical in almost every way to the standard T-45d series, this armor was engineered to be used as a portable hospital unit. Wounded operators are simply inserted into the unit, whose computers would then evaluate the injuries and apply whatever drugs or therapy is required to heal the operator in as short a period of time as possible. T-45-MP-47 Armor Suits are said to be worth their weight in gold - literally.
Gen-2 T-51 Military
This Generation Power Armor includes Revisions A / B / C / D / E / F
The second major generation of Power Armor Tech -- the T-51 line -- was re-classified as Powered Infantry Armor. Native instruments maschine mac torrent. Access and use was restricted exclusively to the military -- much to the frustration of the general Law Enforcement Community, who up to that point considered itself an equal partner in both the use and the development of the technology.
The T-51 Armor represented the peak of Armored Infantry Technology up to and through the first half of the Great War (World War III).
Developed in the laboratories of West Tek Corporation, the T-51/T-51a variant was fielded before the war broke out, but it was the T-51b variant that was developed and deployed around the time of the Anchorage Reclamation period that truly established the impressive reputation and legend around this line.
In January 2077, T-51 armor was designated as standard issue for all US forces, and was shared with key allies, including the Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave in order to promote a unified forces supply system.
Like the previous generation, T-51 armor is constructed around the standard Power Armor Frame and its integral HiFlo hydraulic system, with a back-mounted TX-28 model MicroFusion Pack to provide its power utilizing the Fusion Cores system.
Constructed from poly-laminate composites, its outer shell is both lightweight and tough, capable of absorbing over 2500 Joules of focused kinetic impact-energy. The stock 10-micron-thick ablative coating will reflect laser and other radiation emissions, though a number of custom coating technologies have been developed to protect its composite subsurface from a wide array of weapon types.
The T-51 series established the standards for long-term self-contained deployment, featuring operator support subsystems such as Vault-Tec's Auto-Feeding Ration System (AFRS or 'AFiRs') which converts plant and animal matter from the battlefield environment and process it into nutritious rations.
The West Tek Waste Management System purifies any source of non-potable water as well as human waste, converting it into drinkable water, and thus enhancing the continued health and survival for its operator. The only remaining limiting factors for the continued operation of the T-51 line are access to Power Cores and Ammunition.
Gen-3 T-60 General Purpose Power Armor
This Generation Power Armor includes Revisions A / B / C / D / E / F
The T-60 line of Power Armor was developed on the basis of a constant stream of operator-oriented suggestions as well as the need to create a strategic advantage in The Power Armor Race.
Created during the immediate post-Reclamation period spanning 2077 thru 2081 the T-60 series was built to both replace the T-51 Power Armor as the default military kit, and permit the T-51 series to be used as standard give-away Power Armor Tech to less powerful but still important allies like Saudi Arabia (who may become enemies later).
With war clouds looming the DoD opted to pre-position large numbers of T-60 Power Armor as well as its support and manufacturing components at military warehouses all over the USA so as to make the change-over from the previous gen T-51 that much easier. This resulted in the unintended consequence that Brotherhood of Steel's East Coast Division ended up having largely unrestricted access after the central government was destroyed.
While the T-60 line is similar in appearance to the first gen T-45 line appearances are the only similarity, as its tech base is leagues beyond the previous generations. A much larger and more bulky system thanks to a lot of small improvements to its systems and sub-systems, the T-60 turned out to be vastly improved power armor that was itself a weapon.
Perhaps the most significant improvement to the next gen Power Armor was the decision to change to a standardized Core Slot for the insertion of Fusion Cores in the field (a redesign that was later implemented on all of the previous gen armor as well) in order to remove the need for assistance in replacing its power core. Previous generations required an Armor Assistant to remove an access panel in order to change out the power source - a decision that was widely viewed by operators who ran out of power on the battlefield as - and we quote - 'Bat-shit Nuts!'
All of the many improvements as well as a large number of small systems upgrades are responsible for the global opinion that the T-60 armor is simply far superior to ANY other Power Armor System available to the present day. This is largely why T-60 kit -- regardless of its revision -- is widely sought after today among both friendly AND enemy forces.
Basic T-60 Power Armor SourcesThe following are reliable sources for obtaining T-60 Armor as well as Armor Bits.
Full Armor Sets
- There are four (x4) Complete Sets with Frames on board the BoS Airship Prydwen.
- Elder Maxson's unique BOS VII T-60f Power Armor (with the BoS Elder Paint Job) can be looted from the wreckage of the Prydwen following the completion of the mission ' Airship Down'
- Knight-Sergeant Gavil's BOS III T-60b Power Armor (with the BoS III Knight SGT Paint Job) can be looted during the mission 'Rockets' Red Glare'. His body (and armor) are found on the deck near his terminal (the same place that you first met him at).
- Paladin Danse's T-60d Armor w/ BoS Paladin Paint Job is rewarded to the player for completing the mission 'Blind Betrayal'.
- Proctor Teagan will allow you to purchase a full suit on the BoS Airship Prydwen from his stores.
Bits-and-Bobs
- Pieces can be bought at the Atom Cats Garage / HQ.
- Pieces can be bought from Proctor Teagan on the Prydwen.
- Pieces are acquired as rewards for various BoS Quests and Missions.
Gen-4 X-01 Enclave
This Generation Power Armor includes Revisions Mk.I / Mk.II / Mk.III / Mk.IV / Mk.V / Mk.VI
The X-01 (and its sister X-02 that is not presently available on the east coast) is an advanced design created during the postwar era largely through the funding of research by The Enclave with an eye towards creating the next-generation T-60 series - said to be planned as the T-90 series - for their exclusive use.
Scrounged and captured models of the X-01 power armor have been used by remnants of the United States military - specifically by elements of JSOC and Carlson's Ranger Battalion.
Superior to pretty much all prewar models, despite the much smaller numbers of production runs by the Enclave Armory, abandoned suits of X-01 power armor CAN be found pretty much anywhere that the Enclave has gone to war. And that includes the Northeast Wastelands - though granted there are far fewer such suits there than elsewhere to the west.
The X-01 design really is the best armor you can get in the Wastelands, and as such obtaining as much of it as you can is never a bad idea. To that end you may want to memorize the following information:
X-01 Helmet -- An X-01 PA Helmet can be found on board the BoS Airship Prydwen. It is found in Proctor Teagan's shop behind a master-level locked door (you either pick it or steal the key from a BoS Knight-Captain who patrols the Power Armor Repair Bay).
The following X-01 Power Armor suits and pieces are TOTALLY level-dependent - which means you should not even bother looking for them until your level is north of Level 28. Seriously.
Full Set 1 -- Located on the upper floor at the 35 Court Building (which is just west of the Custom House Tower in the Boston CBD). You will need to defeat a Sentry Bot and an Assaultron as well as some regular human opponents to obtain this by pressing the buttons inside the cages here.
Full Set 2 -- Located at the Fort Hagen Satellite Array (this is another NSA ESCHELON Site near the Fort Hagen Hangar) that is situated just to the west of Fort Hagen. We have already told you that you must be higher than Level 28 for these X-01 safaris so if you are not Level 28 do NOT blame US when you end up getting an older generation of power armor and basically screwing yourself out of a full set of X-01 by not heeding our advice. Just saying.
Damaged Set -- A partially damaged set of X-01 Power Armor is located in the cellar during the mission 'The Big Dig' (See Note 1: The Big Dig) following the defeat of the Mirelurk King. To reach and obtain this set the player must complete the entire series of digging actions on the weak spots BEFORE they complete the mission. If you complete the mission first, the option to dig that series of spots goes away. Just saying. The suit has smashed legs so it requires heavy repairs to be serviceable.
Incomplete Set 1 -- The first incomplete set of X-01 Power Armor can be found at the Toll Gate that is northwest of Fort Strong. Simply follow the road leading towards the Fort and you will find it at the toll gate building.
Incomplete Set 2 -- The second incomplete set of X-01 power armor is obtained at the Murkwater Construction Site, which is positioned in the swamp almost directly to the west of the crashed Vertibird found near the site. Simply walk west into the swamp and you will find it standing where its Fusion Core ran out of power.
Incomplete Set 3 -- The third incomplete set of X-01 Power Armor is obtained at the NSA's Electronics and Communications ESCHELON Site K-21B - which is situated along the northwest edge of the Glowing Sea. The problem with this one is you have to pass through high-radiation zones to get to it and, obviously you cannot wear Power Armor TO that site if you plan to recover the entire partial suit with its frame. So bring lots of Rad-X, Radaway, and Stimpacks.
Incomplete Set 4 -- Situated in the abandoned shack smack inside the area of the map that is known as The Glowing Sea (look to the north of the Crater of Atom) to obtain the full suit and frame you will have to go into this zone wearing a Hazmat Suit and using LOTS of Chems.
Incomplete Set 5 -- This last Incomplete Set (as far as we know it is the last - we could be wrong about that) is located inside the small guardhouse that is just past the official sign that identifies the site as a U.S. Army base and restricted area (Fort Strong) you will at a minimum find a Mk. III Torso here so yeah, it is worth the effort.
Random X-01 Power Armor Bits and Bobs -- After you align with and become mates with those Hep Cats called the Atom Cats at their converted petrol-station-base you will have access Rowdy - the Atom Cat's designated Trader. Rarely but still every-now-and-then Rowdy may have the odd piece of X-01 Armor in inventory that you can buy from them.

Gen-1a R-I Basic Raider / Gen-1b R-II Basic Raider
Fallout 4 Power Armor Code
Raider PA Revision 1.0 & 2.0
The Raider-I series of power armor is built using a hand-drawn manual of instructions -- the author of that universally loved document is not known but it is suspected to have been written by a US Army Powered Armor Tech who defected to the Blue Falcon Division of the Pittsburgh Raiders.
The manual explains in details a five-year-old might understand on how to take a standard power armor frame and repair it from its base systems up using specific and very commonly available salvaged pieces from early generation power armor.
While it appears to be a literal hodgepodge of T-45 and T-51 models combined with iron and steel scrap parts from common automobile models, despite the jury-rigged nature of its design, the Raider-I variant fully restores the hydraulic assists, power-assists, and kinetic protections features for the armor, effectively allowing it to function at the same level or better than the XPA-12 suits that were used to develop the original T-45/T-45a series of power armor.
Bear in mind though that the loss of the ablative layers and lack of composites means that Class I Raider Power Armor CAN NOT withstand repeated exposure to laser and beam-based weapons. It also has NO operator support features - which means no water purification, no ration processing system, and a completely non-functional field medic system.
The Raider II Armor is just a reinforced variation of Raider I. At best this type of armor should have a sign on it that says: 'Use only in case of extreme emergency.'
